Membership in the Colorado Postal History Society is open to anyone with an interest in Colorado's history, particularly the history of its post offices, postal communities, postal markings.

The Society's research centers on the more than 2,500 Colorado locations that have had a post office at some point in their history. These sites are documented in the landmark reference Colorado Post Offices, 1859–1989 by William H. Bauer, James L. Ozment, and John H. Willard.

Following publication of the book, Bauer and Ozment traveled throughout Colorado to visit as many former and existing post office locations as possible. Their research became the foundation of the Colorado Postal Encyclopedia, a serialized feature published in the Colorado Postal Historian that documents the history of individual post office communities. Today, the Encyclopedia is available online at www.coloradopostalhistorysociety.com.

The Society also publishes the Colorado Postal Historian, our quarterly journal edited by member Bill German. The journal is included with membership and features original research articles, Society news, meeting announcements, and updates to the Colorado Postal Encyclopedia.

The Society's membership year begins each May in conjunction with the Rocky Mountain Stamp Show. Additional meetings are held throughout the year at the Rocky Mountain Philatelic Library and are announced in the Colorado Postal Historian and by email to members.

Annual dues are $25.00. We invite you to join the Colorado Postal History Society and help preserve and share the rich postal history of Colorado.
